Isaac Growing

Isaac surprised us one day by being up on his hands and knees like this. He started doing this around the first week in November. He would wiggle, squirm, and try so hard to get his knees up under his body. When he would finally succeed he would get upset because he couldn't go anywhere!
So why does he have socks on in the bath? Well I have this routine of laying him on the counter and getting him undressed while the water is running. I was in a hurry this time because he was crying and I knew he would stop once in the water. So I hurried him into the water only to realize I forgot to take off his socks. Of course I couldn't take them off without first taking a picture!
Not long after he got up on his hands and knees we began to find him like this, halfway underneath the couch. Need I say, so cute?!
This is a funny picture I know, but he just looks so grown up and adorable. How else do I explain it except that he seems like he should be an old man, relaxing on the couch?
Know what else? I really should do a better job of keeping up on these blog posts because I could probably tell you a lot more about the little details right after they happen instead of giving the watered down version.

Halloween in December

I know, I know, I have taken far too long to post a blog about Halloween. My computer is silly and has problems with transferring pictures from the camera...so I have to wait to use Kory's computer and blah blah blah. Excuses are lame.
On another note, Halloween was fun. Kory didn't feel well so I took Isaac to the neighbor's house and got a piece of candy and then took some pictures with our other neighbor. Addy looks cute in her little pumpkin outfit, but personally Isaac is the cutest ever! Our little monkey!

Don't worry, the wrapper was on the candy, he just likes putting everything in his mouth.

Fall Photo Shoot

Don't eat the leaves! I had to be really quick after taking this picture, getting the leaves away from his mouth.

He is so curious, I love watching him explore the world around him.

I had to orchestrate this one, grabbing a bunch of leaves and dropping them, but it was worth it.

SO cute.

Rice Cereal

I wish I new what he was thinking right here...

His sleeping habits have been a little off lately so I decided to try and start feeding him rice cereal. The kid might just be really hungry and that's why he keeps waking up. Anyway, he started sucking on the spoon, it was so cute. I turned the spoon upside down and he held onto it and sucked that cereal right off the spoon. It was dribbling down his chin but he seemed to like it.

CALIFORNIA

Grammy and Isaac at the beach. It was not the most beautiful day as far as sunshine goes, but it was nice to smell the ocean and feel the cool breeze. Something I don't get much of in Utah.

We stuck Isaac's feet in the water and he seemed to like it, after of course he let out a scream of terror because of how quickly it hit him and how cold it was...

Soccer in the backyard with Truman and Grammy. I was on the phone with Kory and my mom took Isaac to play and the next thing I know she's running around like the best Grandma ever! So cute, the little man loved it.

What can I say, the kid has it in his genes, he will be an athlete no matter what sport he plays.

Dane works at a pumpkin patch in Encinitas on whatever day he can and we stopped by to say goodbye to him on the way to the airport. That place was so cool, Zack and Ethan would've loved it because they had those blow up jumping things. I don't know what they are called officially, but it was fun. There was a clown and an artist to paint faces. It was fun just to take pictures. Isaac got a big kick out of looking at everything.

Well I went to Cali because it was Rock Canyon's fall break. Kory has been extremely busy lately with work and school, so I thought I would get out of "dodge" and relax with my family. It was nice to not have to think about lesson plans, making dinner, and all the other things that go through a working mother's mind throughout the day. I flew in on a Tuesday night and flew out on Saturday night. Isaac took his first flight very well. Of course he had a few problems with the descents, but he was so happy to just be out and about. Everyone, and I'm not kidding, told me how cute he was and what a good baby etc. Of course I already think that, but it was fun to receive those compliments for my little man. Anyways, my mom and I got to spend a lot of time doing things we like, cooking together, going on very short shopping trips :) and watching movies. We watched Sister Act and it was funny. I didn't remember how funny that movie is. We also worked out and went on walks. We went to Linda's aerobics classes for two mornings and holy crow! (Thanks Bella) I was so incredibly sore afterwards. I got my behind kicked! But it felt good. It was sad to go, but it was good to see Kory again and I know he got a lot done becuase he didn't have me or Isaac to distract him.

BYU football

We first took Isaac to the Florida State vs. BYU game. Sadly it was not the best game. Indeed we will have to tell Isaac that his first football game was a horrible loss. BYU was ranked in the top ten and lost to FSU, who was not even ranked!

Luckily the next game was much better! Which is the game that we took these pictures at. We played Colorado? I think, for some reason I can't remember, but I do remember we won. It was incredibly hot because the game started at 4 and we were on the east bleachers, facing right into the sun! Blegh. But again, a very fun game. Oh, Isaac is the bomb because at both games he slept for about a quarter. And he also eats his bottle and is pretty chill. He does cry a little, but usually because he gets a little tired by the end.

Progress!

Needless to say Isaac has made a lot of progress since my last blog update. For example, this is a new position that he likes. We put him in bed laying on his back and he will usually cry himself to sleep. Well in the process he turns over on his stomach and then pushes with his legs until he hits the crib's side. He ends up with his head in the corner and his knees up underneath him. It is probably the cutest thing ever. His arms aren't strong enough yet so he can't get up on his arms.

I was trying so hard to get a picture of his TWO teeth, but instead I just got he cutest smile ever! Once again he rolled over onto his stomach and was just hanging out. It was so cute. Oh, I first noticed a tooth on September 19. It was a Saturday morning and Kory was gone playing flag football and Isaac and I were just sitting on the floor. I put Isaac on my lap and he suddenly tried to start chewing on my hand. And bam, it hurt! He had a tooth! The next one popped up about a week later.

Pay attention to where he is right now. On the back edge of the blanket.

Now look where he is....Off the front edge. I didn't touch him or move him. I was in the kitchen making something and I came back to find him here, trying to grab the bottom of the couch and put it in his mouth. We are going to have to be careful, he puts everything in his mouth!

Long Overdue...

These three peaks are found in Zion National park and it just so happens that this stop was called Patriarchs' Peaks...And the three peaks are named Abraham (far left), Isaac (middle) and Jacob (far right). We of course had to take a picture. We were at Zion because Kory's cousin Parker got married in the park. The picture below was one we took right after the ceremony. We had to wait to take the picture because the bride and groom were there first, but it was worth the wait. I wish our camera did the view and beauty of the park more justice. Honestly, it is amazing what a couple million years and a river can do!

Another beautiful view! Because of enormous amounts of traffic the park decided to only allow a certain amount of cars in the park each day. And instead of letting the cars drive all the way up the canyon, you have to take a tour bus type thing. It actually reminded me of a tram from the zoo or something. Anyways, the bus drivers were very informed and told us a bunch of facts about how the park was made and other important facts. It was really cool. The picture below is part of the road that leads up the canyon. BEAUTIFUL!

On the way home from Zion we stopped by my grandparents house and visited for about an hour. It was very good to see my grandpa and grandma. An hour was the perfect amount of time with my grandma. She has alzheimers and can get very edgy very quickly. I love them so much but it is so hard to be there with them.

Superman...and more places Isaac sleeps

If you haven't already noticed Isaac's position in this picture is just like Superman. He has his arm out, one knee bent, and the other leg out straight. He is being held by Aunt Sam in Zion national park. We went to Zion for the wedding of Kory's cousin Parker. This was taken just after the ceremony. The weather was great and the scenery was incredible. I will write more about it and show more pictures in another post, but for now the other pictures show more of the funny places Isaac falls asleep. Like in the Moby (aka, a huge piece of fabric I wrap around myself so I can carry him) and also in his swing. I know it looks like a painful position, but he only slept for about a half hour, so it didn't last long.

Funny, I just realized Aunt Allison is taking a picture of him...

P.S. I love having him in the Moby. He is so sweet and cuddly, not that he isn't normally, but he is a lot easier to carry when my body can support the weight and not my arms.

Isaac's Blessing

I know this is a little overdue, but anyone who has kids knows how hard it is to get time on the computer when they wont be hitting the keys or crying...on another note, I guess I should have started with the picture of Kory and I with Isaac, but oh well. This is all our friends who came to see his blessing. Our good friends Diana, Richie, Trent, Sarah, Paulina, Eric, and Wendy. Jenna also came, but she had to hurry home and then came over afterwards. Anyways, the really important part was the blessing. Kory did a great job, he has such a good voice. Again, not the important part, but I am just trying to highlight the parts that I liked the best. The whole day was so special. Isaac wore the outfit that Kory wore when he was blessed. He looked so cute and was in such a good mood. According to both grandpas Isaac was awake and smiling at Kory during the whole blessing. He really is a special kid and I know that he has great things in store for him. The blessing itself was great because of the promises made to him if he is faithful. I cried during the blessing and then again when I bore my testimony. It has only been in these last couple of months that I have started to understand, in the tiniest way, the love God has for us. Anyways, I know I have said this stuff before but I just can't get enough of my little boy and how much I love him!

Here are the grandparents with Isaac...and then us. And I didn't think of it until just now, but I should've got a picture with just Isaac on a blanket or something to show off his cute little outfit.

And of course, this is how Isaac ended up. After his blessing he pooped on Kory and on the floor of the church....and then later that day he pooped all over Aunt Jane. It was pretty funny. He was all over the place! The cute little guy ended up naked, in my arms, and drooling all over the place. He is cute no matter what happens.

Swimming!

We filmed this about a month ago. He was so cute that night because of how much he was moving his arms and legs. He has yet to repeat the performance but I am always waiting for some kind of a show.

While I am at it, I just want to make a list of all the things I love about my little man.

1. The way he looks at me and smiles.

2. When he pulls himself off from breast-feeding and has little red marks on his lips and nose from being latched on.

3. When he laughs or puts on a show...you know, talking etc.

4. When he rolls onto his side.

5. The way he noisily sucks on his hands.

6. His chunky little legs.

I should have a list a lot longer than this, but right now I can't think of anymore, although I constantly tell everyone what I love about him. I love, love, love being a mom. My whole perspective on life changed when I saw him and every moment I have with him I am amazed at that little miracle. If there is one thing I don't understand it is how a person can be an atheist. One look at a precious child ought to be enough for anyone to become a believer. I know more than ever there is a God and that He loves us. I thank him everyday for letting me be a creator so that I can better understand love. If only the world knew that much.

Oh the places Isaac sleeps...

On Daddy's lap...

In Mommy's arms...

On the ground (he fell asleep by himself)...

Sitting up...

In Grandpa's arms...

On Grandpa Ronnie's chest...

In Great Grandma Helen's arms (while watching the Price is Right)...

In Auntie Sam's arms...

On Mommy's chest (love the feet)...

On a bean bag at Grammie's house...

In a suitcase...

On a blanket on the couch...

On Mommy's shoulder...

I wish I was talented enough to rhyme like Dr. Suess since the title of my blog was inspired by him. Oh well. Since it is summer we travelled a lot and I definitely missed some of the places he slept, like in Kristy's pack 'n play, in Blake's crib, in the crib in Grammie's house, in the car etc. Alas, I didn't think to do any of that. But I will mention that after Arizona we spent a week in California. It was so much fun! Kory and I got to go to the beach and while swimming we got really close to some dolphins! And we also went on walks, made really good food, and enjoyed the time with my parents. And thanks to my mom, we got Isaac on a schedule! Yahoo! He is such a champ and has been sleeping through the night since that week in July we spent in CA. Of course there have been two exceptions when he has woken up at 3:30 wanting to eat, but overall he is so amazing. He goes down between 8-9:30, just depending on how I feel, and sleeps until 6 or 7 in the morning. Thank you Mom!
