No longer a baby....

He may seem very young still, but he is no longer my little baby boy. He has figured out that words mean things, so I think I hear, "Ma, MaMa," at least 50 times a day (I'm not complaining...oh definitely not. I love hearing that!!!) And as you can tell he is drinking out of sippy cups; and holding them in his mouth. Who needs hands when you've got teeth? Honestly! And he's asleep...go figure.

One day we took Kory lunch and then drove on 800 South past the duck pond. I couldn't resist! We had to get out and play! He loved running around, and before I knew it he was making his way through the bushes exploring EVERYTHING! I have a boy, yes, 100%, through and through boy!

So we are next to the pond and someone gave us a piece of bread to feed the ducks (I was unprepared, it was a little last minute!) Anyway, instead of feeding the ducks, he ate the bread. I tried to show him how to throw it, and it only ever ended up in his mouth. Notice the ducks' feet and the water in the picture? Yeah, that's how close we were...

We went to the library one very rainy day, and Isaac found this hat and wanted to wear it. So he put it on and off we went. Also in this pic, his banged up face. It's slightly red because he fell down some concrete steps while climbing. I am not a horrible mother, I was on the scene, and it was only two steps, I just couldn't get to him in time, and he more rolled than actually fell.

This has got to be one of my favorite pictures! There is a little area away from the street where we like to go play. A lot of young kids play there and there are cool toys, like this car. He LOVES cars, real or plastic. And so here's my boy, totally loving life while sitting in the toy car. Doesn't he look like he's going to start cruising any minute? Yeah, I thought so too.

My little boy

Isaac is the cutest little boy ever...okay, that is my opinion, but after seeing some of these pictures you might just agree with me! You can't really tell, but in the picture above he is blowing my whistle. He started by just putting it in his mouth, and then I showed him how to blow and he has had a lot of fun ever since. Gratefully he doesn't blow very hard otherwise I think I would've gone crazy by now.
Watching Isaac sleep is one of my favorite things to do, unfortunately if I try to go watch him in his crib, he senses my presence and immediately wakes up. So I now have to take pleasure in watching him sleep only when he falls asleep in the car.
So Kory has this habit of not putting his shoes away. They end up in the hallway, living room, next to the closet but never inside...but there is one fun thing about those old Adidas shoes never being in the closet, Isaac finds his white Adidas shoes and puts them next to his dad's shoes. I'm not kidding. We didn't orchestrate this at all (I'm not that creative). Isaac did it all on his own. I just about died when I saw it.
Oatmeal for breakfast. Of course he holds the spoon, but never quite uses it. Instead he uses his bare hand. Oh well, at least he is happy and I can do something else while he sits strapped in:)
What is on Isaac's head? Well back in high school I got big hair things that go around my head to keep the wispies out of my face. I wear them a lot these days because my hair is growing back in and I have a lot of wispies (I lost a lot of hair after I had Isaac). Anyways, Isaac loves to copy anything Kory or I does, so he put the headband on his head. Adorable, definitely.
On to other news. Isaac knows a few words. His first word was ball. He said it when his soccer ball got stuck under something and he couldn't reach it. Then he said "ma" and "dad". Very, very cute. He also knows how to say dog, well it turns out more like, "doo". Other little Isaac idiosyncrasies: he loves to climb. He climbs on the computer chairs to get on the desks, he climbs onto the top of the couch only to slide down. He climbs onto the kitchen chairs, then on to the table. He climbs into his stroller....So along with this climbing he ends up a few feet off the ground right? Yes, well if Kory or I are near enough to him, he sticks his arms out and walks straight off the edge of whatever he is on. It doesn't matter if we are paying attention or not, because the kid feels no fear. He just walks off and hopes we are paying close enough attention to catch him. Scary? Absolutely.
Last Sunday I was sitting on the couch while he was playing and he just started turning in circles. He thought it was hilarious to do a couple of turns with his hands out and then start running in whatever direction he could. He didn't care one bit that he was on his feet and running for less than a step, he just laughed and laughed. Kory asked if I taught him to spin, and truthfully I didn't. Never even thought about it, but Isaac figured it out and now it's his daily routine, spinning.
Oh, if Isaac is hungry he opens the cupboard and grabs what he wants (if he can reach it) and then brings it to me or Kory so we can open it.

May 29, 2010

Isaac was such a cutie on his birthday. He really is such a ham. He will smile at any camera, at anytime, just so he can have everybody praise him. Oh, notice the cake, it is frosted half chocolate, half cream cheese, just because!
Opening his gifts from us. He got a sweet basketball bath toy, a pop up toy thing (don't have a clue what it's called, and a popper thing you push around. However that toy was defective so we returned it.)
The horse was a gift from Grandma Susan. He is very cute when he rides it, and he loves it when someone pushes the ears because then it makes the horse sing.
A gift from Aunt Jane. It was an outfit. I can't remember which one...
Eating blueberries for breakfast! He loves blueberries. Don't worry, I am getting to the cake part....it just may be in another blog.

Rach's Wedding

For all of those out there who have been telling me to update my blog, this is for you! Just to start it off, I have a story that has nothing to do with any of these pictures. I just changed Isaac's diapers, like literally 30 seconds ago. And it is a very hard thing to do. Unless the kid is thoroughly distracted, he will scream, wiggle, and sometimes grab his poopy bum....all to try and get out of the inevitable. And sometimes, just because it is so hard to change his diaper, I let him run free for a bit...and like clockwork the kid will pee on the ground, within seconds, literally seconds, of running away from me.
Ok, so back to the pictures. I don't know why or how I got chosen to be on the top part of the pyramid, maybe it was so I would look like a freaking giant....seriously, everyone else looks cute and little, and there's Monica on top, towering. Lovely.

I love this picture of Kory and little Ellie. Ellie is Jenny's little girl, and apparently she missed her dad, because she was happy in Kory's arms, even though that was the second time they had "met".
Yeah, not sure if you can see everyone, but Ashley is hiding behind Rach, I am off to the side just watching the mayhem, Jenny and Anne aren't even touching Rach. We did a lot of the work, not!
Another one of my favorite pictures from the trip. Carson holding the two friends. Ellie and Isaac are about a month apart.

Ok, this is the Oakland temple, in May. And it was so cold! It was windy, and although sunny, quite chilly outside. None of us were really prepared for that! Well, at least little Carson looks warm, wrapped up in a pink blanket!

Arizona

I realize it has been eons since I have posted anything, so I apologize. Kory's laptop broke a few weeks ago which means I now have to use the desktop in Isaac's room, which means I have to put him in the pack 'n play in my room which just causes more havoc. However, I did it today, so I am going to do the best I can with a little update. At the end of April I flew down to Arizona to hang out with my siblings and parents. Kory stayed home to work, we were sad to be there without him, but happy to visit the cousins!
Moving on, this is Kristy's bike and Isaac loved it, he even fell asleep. Sorry, you get to see the end result first. Oh well

I love the way he looks in this picture, like a little boy!
So Scot said, "Hey Monica, I think Isaac is putting rocks in his mouth." And I responded, "Nah, I think he's putting them in the dump truck." Turns out he was doing both. With more rocks in his mouth than the truck...
Kristy's sweet toy tunnel!
Isaac's first real haircut...we had Grandpa do it because I couldn't bare to shave his adorable hair. It did turn out a little choppy, but what can you expect when Isaac was turning his head like a madman!

Oh Isaac....

So I was doing some work in the kitchen, dishes I think, and I kind of forgot about Isaac because he was being so quiet. When I finally remembered to see what he was doing, I found that he had gotten into the trash can and found some very hard cornbread and was eating it. I couldn't help but laugh and then thank my lucky stars that it was cornbread and not chicken guts or something.
He loves going underneath the desks.
Again, I was busy and I turn around to find he had dumped his cereal all over the ground. If you know anything about baby cereal, it is extremely fine and flaky. In others words difficult to know if I had cleaned it all up and slippery.
He loves the refrigerator! I have found him eating cooked yams once, and another time I found him with an opened tupperware of a chicken sauce I had made. Oh, please note he is actually standing in the fridge.
I love this picture because he is totally sagging without even realizing it. Those jeans fit him, but because of the way he crawls, they get lower, and then when he stands up, he steps on the the bottom. I love it.

20's Murder Mystery

So thanks to our good friends Richie and Diana (in the picture above), we have now done 2 murder mystery parties. This one was set in the 1920's and we were all New Yorkers with accents, plus we dressed up in sweet costumes. And, we were all gangsters! It was such a fun night.
And thanks to Sophie, one of the most fashionable, sweet girls in the ward, I was able to wear a long string of pearls, a broach, and a headband with a flower. If you are in need of a fun night, that isn't just movie watching or regular games, try a murder mystery. It's fun to pretend to be someone else for a night, and to challenge yourself to talk with an accent. Plus you get to dress up, HELLO, it's fun!

Yoga

I know that I usually post pictures, but tonight the camera is in Isaac's room and I really don't feel like going in there while he is sleeping to get it. So instead I am going to put in my own little plug for Yoga.
First of all, let's go back 10 or more years, to my first yoga experience; Kristy and I went to LA Fitness to do a yoga class...and we were COMPLETELY ignorant of what exactly that meant. So when our instructor walked in, we both started laughing because he was the buffest (he had his shirt off), shortest Asian, with ridiculously long hair. And then the class started! We were asked to do some crazy positions that made Kristy and I lose our balance, and our composure. I am confident that we laughed at least 50% of the time.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I went to my first class of hot yoga, which pretty much means the room is between 80-90 degrees, and on top of that I grabbed a pilates mat, not a yoga mat. For those of you out there that don't know, there is a difference! Anyways, I was pushed beyond capacity to do and HOLD positions that were uncomfortable and that stretched me. WOW. At the end of the evening I was so sore, so stretched, and SO relaxed. It was one of the best, hardest work outs ever. So that's my new thing, hot yoga, on Monday nights. OH YEAH. Try it, you will be happy you did.
OH, and I forgot to mention that because of yoga I can now do a handstand. Yes, that's right, I have learned balance and strength and can do a handstand. WOOT WOOT.

Fun Pics....

This kid loves any type of ball. This was back in December some time, but still it demonstrates how this kid loves to play.
This was taken at Snowbird, we were getting ready to go swimming and Jane and Susan pulled out this cute robe to put him in to go swimming.
This was just yesterday...as in February 18. He discovered how to open drawers and started pulling out all my stuff. I wanted to take more pictures of him in action, however, the kid is a "HAM!!!" and wants to have his picture taken. If he sees the camera he looks and smiles and then crawls straight for it.
I was able to catch this picture before he realized that I had the camera, even though it wasn't the shot I wanted. Before this he had the phone up to his ear.
This was a President's day family activity. We went up to the Gallivan Center and skated. Isaac had fun watching with Grandma Susan. And did you notice the matching jackets? That was a complete accident. Kory had his jacket before he met me and I had mine before I met him. And then when Grammy bought him this jacket I didn't even realize it was the same as ours.
This was also just a couple of days ago. This is a new thing that Isaac likes to do, stand on anything and everything so he can reach higher. Something that I have yet to get a picture of is him standing on my feet to try and get at my food. Oh and Isaac is hilarious. He is a stinking garbage disposal. He will eat anything and everything. And if you are eating and he is not, he comes up to you and opens his mouth and makes noise until you put something in it.
Helping with the groceries!
Grandma Helen gave him a huge dog for Christmas and it has become his new love. He cuddles right up to it with his blanket and goes to sleep. And usually in the mornings he is playing with the dog when we go in to get him.
Cute cousins! This was from our Arizona trip...we went down there to be with my family for New Years and it was so fun. Isaac was so cute with all the cousins. Also it was very interesting to see how Isaac reacted to other little kids. He started making more "ga, da, ma" noises after being with them, and he crawled a lot more and quicker. I miss my family! It was so fun to be with them!
Almost Isaac's favorite toy! Anytime, and I mean ANYTIME Kory puts his computer down, Isaac races for it. And in this instance, Kory left it on his chair and Isaac found it and started banging on it. I love this kid!

Christmas in February...

Okay, so I know I haven't posted anything in a while, and I apologize! The holidays got me all out of wack and then came the decision about whether to continue working or not....things in general have just kept me from even wanting to look at or type on a computer. So again, sorry. But I am going to post a lot of pictures so you can see how my little boy has been growing up in a hurry. SLOW DOWN!
This picture was taken at the Christmas/staff party at the school where I worked for a while. I had to get a picture with Santa since I didn't know if Isaac would get another chance. Everyone at the party said how cute Isaac looked and how much of a "ham" he is. Look at that kid! Smiling at the camera (sort of), he loved it! He was waving his arms and bouncing around.
This picture is actually from the present opening in Arizona...a little out of order, but this one demonstrates how fun he was when he was opening presents. He wasn't shy at all and really went after the paper. Of course we had to help him a little getting it all off, but he could rip it...
Here's our little man, this was after our ward party and he was very happy. His face has been taking a beating this winter though...with all the drool, the second we step outside it gets chapped. Poor kid!
This was Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Hunsaker's. Every Christmas Eve they read Luke 2 and this year we happened to have Isaac so they wanted to act out the Christmas story. So Kory and I got to be Joseph and Mary. It was fun and Isaac did a good job sitting still for a short time. And then, right on cue, as soon as it was over he started wailing. He was so tired.
