Pictures!

Wearing my slippers...
He fell asleep like that, while Kory and I were talking.
He's "reading" the For the Strength of the Youth booklet.
He loves to sleep with his doggie and blanket.
Our short but fun visit to California, to see family.  I should have taken more pictures!
Reading again, this time under the table, and he's reading the Old Testament Student study guide...my little gospel scholar!
He didn't feel well one day, I came out to find him watching The Incredibles, or rather, asleep while the movie played.

I can't remember when this was, or what happened, but once again, we are sleeping in similar positions.

Kangaroo Zoo

I can't remember if I ever talked about the place called Kangaroo Zoo....we were introduced to it during a birthday party.  It is a large warehouse filled with large jumbo jumps.  I'm sure there is a better name, however I can't remember what it would be right now.
Isaac was not even scared when it came to....well, everything.  He went down every slide, climbed every ladder, went through all the obstacle courses, and absolutely loved every moment.
I tried to capture Isaac giving Kory a high five, but I took the picture a little too early.

Lessons from the Man in the Yellow Hat

Isaac officially likes to watch shows (aka movies).  He will get the DVD case out and pull out Finding Nemo or The Incredibles.  Sometimes he even puts the DVD into the DVD player.  He has certainly come a long way, from the days he used to hide the DVD's or just pull them out just to have something to do!  So besides those two Disney movies, we have also begun to watch a lot of Curious George.  Kylee, the little girl I tend, brought over a DVD with 8 episodes of George.  Needless to say, I have watched a lot of that movie lately too.  This morning, I turned it on and came into my room to do some reading.  Being in my room isn't a horrible thing by the way, I can hear every detail of the movie, and even down to what the kids are doing, so don't think I'm a horrible mother.  Anyways, as I sat on my bed reading/listening to Curious George, I realized that the Man with the Yellow Hat is very patient.  Some of these episodes just leave me cringing as I think about how mad I would get if my child flooded my whole house because he didn't listen to my instructions, or if he spilled grape juice all over my new rug because he started jumping with a glass full of juice in his hand.  So as I thought about these things I came to the conclusion, I have much to learn from that un-named man.  He never gets very mad at George.  For example the episode where George floods the apartment, all the man says is, "call the plumber" or something along those lines.  No punishment, nothing, George even enjoys a bath after all is said and done.  I believe, what it all comes down to is this, I need to remember that most of the time my child doesn't do things because he wants to make my life harder, he does it because he wants to learn about how something works and why.  And the things to get angry about aren't those things, the things to get angry about are when my child is biting another kid, or pulling hair....not when he's letting cars roll down the hill until it hits a car, or exploring the difference in concrete and asphalt (which means he plays in the parking lot).  My hat goes off to the Man in the Yellow Hat, although you may not be real, I'm sure there are people out there like you, who are incredibly patient, no matter what.

Pictures!!!

Kory's cousin Bailee came over one evening to hang out.  We decided to make some cookies, something I don't regularly do, and so Isaac was fascinated with the kitchenaide and he especially loved licking the beater.
I turned on a movie for Isaac and Kylee one afternoon, I found them a short time later sitting next to each other, watching the movie.  Of course Isaac looked at me while I was taking the picture, but oh well, he is cute nonetheless.
I can't remember why Isaac was pulling such a sad face, but he looks adorable.  He loves hats, of all kinds, and so when he finds them, he wears them...

Moving Part 2....

So once again I will not be posting any pictures of Isaac, but I thought I should update the happenings in our new apartment.  I think I mentioned before that everything is a little older here than in our other apartment....really what I am saying is that our first week in the new place has been eventful.  The first day we moved in (last Monday), we used our toilet once and it began to overflow, everywhere!  No big deal right?  We bought a plunger and fixed it.  No sweat.  On Tuesday, we got our washer and dryer and installed them.  Well I turned on the water and it began leaking water out of the top where the hoses screw into the wall.  Okay, so no laundry that day.  Wednesday morning, Kory and I showered in lukewarm water.  Our pilot light went out, so we waited to get it fixed before my mom got the chance to shower. On Thursday morning, Isaac had a blow out!  Poop everywhere, down his leg, on his foot, so I go in to give him a bath, and I discover NO HOT WATER!  In my panic to clean off my kid, who happened to be standing with only his shirt on in the bathroom, I called the neighbors to see if we could use their tub.  Good old Amber and Nick, who are so kind, were unfortunately using their shower, so I had to run across the way to Becky's house.  Poor little Isaac's dirty bum hanging out as I sprint to clean him off.   The hot water heater was fixed later that night and all seemed to be going in the right direction once again.  On Friday I fixed the hoses from the washer to the wall.  Yeah, go me! All is well, right?  Haha, in my sweet dreams.  I started filling the washer in order to do some laundry.  I left the laundry room and came back, looked down at my feet and noticed that there was water all over the ground.  Someone, not sure who, had decided to disconnect the draining hose from the bottom of the washer, so we had a huge leak.  Lovely, I cleaned up the mess and took about an hour to figure out how to connect the hose to the washer.  I had to borrow a tool from Becky and was able to come out with a victory.  All is well.  I did some laundry and enjoyed myself playing outside with the kids.  Well on Saturday we went to Snowbird and stayed until Sunday night.  Monday morning, back at the apartment, our hot water is not working AGAIN.  So no shower for Kory or I...last night they come over to fix it, and this morning, Tuesday, no hot water....need I say AGAIN?!!!  So no shower....Kory sponge bathed and went off to school.  Neither of us having showered since Saturday.  WOW.  So this evening they came over to fix the water heater, let's hope it works this time, or else I might just break the contract and move.  J/K.  Seriously though, it has been an unforgettable week in our new place.

Moving

Sadly, this post will not have any pictures of our little man, but they will be coming soon.  For now all that needs to be said is that we moved.  We used to live in a two bedroom apartment, and now we live in a two bedroom apartment.  Cool huh?  There are actually quite a few differences that I will list for your enjoyment:
1. It is 200 square feet bigger.
2. It has one covered parking stall (good for summer and winter).
3. It has a small storage unit (excellent because I no longer have a collection of stuff under Isaac's crib or my bed!).
4. It has an area of grass where Isaac can play that doesn't lead onto a busy street.
5. It has washer/dryer hook ups (so we could get ours out of Susan's garage).
6. The master bedroom is big enough to fit our 2 desks and small table (all for the computer gadgets we have), so that our office is now a part of the bedroom, not Isaac's room!
7. The new apartment is one block east of our old one, so we still have friends close by and we are in the same ward.
8. It is $70 cheaper than our old apartment.
There are of course a few downsides, like no pantry (just a lot of cupboards), older appliances, and cheaper blinds.  But oh well! I am happy and since I'm the one who spends MOST of my time at home, Kory will have to live with the downsides.

How did all this come about you may ask? I knew we needed some more room, so I arranged it, asked my parents if they could come help, and then told Kory we were moving :)  My mom is such a gem.  She came up here to help me, and in three days we got almost everything done!  The only things that remain are some odds and ends I need to sort through, and a little bit of cleaning at the old apartment. I wish everyone could have a positive experience moving, like I had, because the only complaint I have right now is I AM EXHAUSTED! But yeah for moving...

Winter and Christmas

Isaac wanted to wear Daddy's boots...and so he is.
Isaac was using that shovel to help shovel off Grandma's walkway.  It was so cute.
Look at how serious he is!  This is a luggage carrier at snowbird's Iron Blosam.  He loved riding up and down on the elevator in the different luggage carriers.
Isaac climbed up on the stool and then onto the sink.  Like I said before, my little monkey.
This was our lame attempt at a family picture in front of my parent's Christmas tree.
Isaac's stocking...thanks aunt Jane!  The dog even sings and has a bell.  It's pretty cute.
Nice face he's pulling!  He is eating some fruit snacks from his stocking.
He loves the cars that we got him.  He is always saying "vroom, vroom".
I love that he loves his pockets.  He is obsessed with putting his hands in his jacket pockets or pants pockets.
The fun bouncing turtle from Grammy and Grandpa.
Ethan and Blake's sweet fort/castle.  Isaac loved it.
Inside the fort and playing with the punch balloon.  That was a huge hit.
Kory in the fort with Isaac....my two boys playing!
Isaac loved this orange helmet...and he wanted to be like Zack and Ethan so he tried out the razor scooter with grandpa.  I guess that will be his birthday gift...
He loves to help in the kitchen, dishes, laundry and eating cookie dough!
Isaac and Kylee watching a show together.  They never sit next to each other....so I thought it was a great picture moment.

Halloween etc....

I am ashamed to even look at how long it has been since I last published on the blog.  I honestly even forgot I had a blog, don't know where my brain has been lately, but it's not here.  A call from my father in law reminded me that it had been a long time since I had posted new pictures of Isaac.  So here we are, back tracking a while to show you our cutest treasure.  This above picture is from our ward Halloween party.  Isaac is sitting in the back of our neighbor's car with their son Kodiak.  Is it just me, or does Isaac look huge compared to Kodiak?
Isaac had so much fun going around and collecting candy in this random bag that is part of his toys.  I have no idea where it came from.  Anyways, he was obsessed with putting the pieces of candy in himself and would go around and take candy from the people offering and then take forever to get his bag open so he could stash it away.  Here he is, sitting on the couch, enjoying his spoils.
Isaac was obsessed with his tiger pants.  He wanted to wear them all the time.  Which was fine with me because they are warm.  He loves getting in the cupboards and pulling everything out.  Usually those bags are all over the kitchen, but the point of the picture is the pants, not the messes he makes.
Can I just say how creative I felt before the ward party?  I didn't have a costume, but I had orange pants and a black shirt.  But that's not the creative part.  It's the ears.  I wanted to be a mama tiger and so I was trying to think of a way to get ears.  Well I used an orange diaper box and drew black stripes on it.  And then I used safety pins to pin them to a head band.  Aren't I amazing, haha!
I wish I could remember what Isaac was eating here, but isn't that a cute picture?  He looks like he was trying really hard to get that bite...

Isaac eating a pear, with spaghetti all over himself.
We had a spare bed in Isaac's room for a while.  It was standing on it's side against the wall and Kory loved putting Isaac on top.  And Isaac would just laugh and smile the whole time, when he was ready to get down he would just slide down and Kory would catch him.
We had mashed potatoes one night....and Isaac ate them and then decorated himself with the rest...
An apple you might say?  Yes, that was the day Isaac ate two and a half apples.  That's the half.  And that's the one I DIDN'T give to him.  He opened the fridge and got it himself.  I was doing something else and then noticed that he was taking bites out of that apple.  Then when he was done, he just left it lying on the ground...
Isaac grabbed Kory's old lap top bag and was carrying it around like his very own briefcase.  These kids start young....always wanting to do what the grown ups do.
My monkey man.  He loves getting up on the chairs, and then one day he discovered he could get on the table.  Not the best thing, but it sure is cute when he does.
